Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Palette |
The Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Palette is one of those palettes that I bought, tried and put it away. Initially, when I tried this palette I wasn't that inspired by it. I saw the 3 quads, but couldn't really see beyond those quads. I didn't feel that inspired by this palette. To be honest, I don't wear all matte looks because I prefer a shimmery lid. When it comes to putting together an all matte look, I'm not good at it. I feel like I have my technique down when it comes to matte crease and shimmery lid, but an all matte look starts to worry me. I do think it's something I would like to work on more. It might make me appreciate this palette more than I do. At this time, I use it more as a complimentary palette.
This month I pulled this palette out, and made myself use it. I didn't create any all matte looks but I forced myself to get more comfortable using this palette. The shadows are very pigmented but it blends easily. I stay more in the warm quad, but I played around with the neutral quad too. That cooler toned quad in the middle, I don't know what to do with it. I can't think of a look I would like. The black is BLACK! I really like to use it to cover my lash glue when I apply fake lashes or as liner.
I need to start challenging myself with palettes that I don't use that often. This palette was a great example because I feel much more comfortable with it after using it for a month. Kat Von D has the Shade and Light Glimmer palette but I don't plan on purchasing it. I've heard it can be hard to work with, and I'm not about that life. I can't tell you how many times i'm interrupted as I do my makeup in the morning. Having a 3 year old is all about negotiations and our mornings are interesting...
Do you have this palette? Is it a favorite? I will say it's not a favorite of mine but I'm happy that I have it. It's great to have matte palettes in your collection. For September, I'm going to challenge myself with my Modern Renaissance palette. Another palette I should be using alot more.
I like the look of this palette. It's good that you are trying to use it more. Have a great day! Gemma x

Looks like a great basic palette you can use both daily or night outs using the darker smokier colours!

Hey Jennifer! Are you saying the matte look is hard to put on your lid? Meaning the texture of the matte or you just prefer a shimmer? Does the matte palette stay on longer? ---also I'm on my phone and your blog template looks good! Love the upgrade! Okay I'm on the verge of writing an essay! Lol ttyl

Thank! When it comes to matte looks, I have a hard time creating the look. I'm not inspired. I prefer a shimmery lid. I have no issue with matte or shimmer shadows on my eyes, the both stay. I always use a primer.
DeleteI think I would feel the same way! The middle quad definitely looks hard to use.

I bought this palette and sold it when I received it, as I just didn't like it. I'm the same as you, as I struggle to do all matte looks, because I love a shimmery lid. I hope you manage to work with it xx

I haven't tried this palette. Me too, I prefer shimmery lids. The shades are pretty, though.

Once I am finished my Project Pan, I am considering a one month, one palette also. I think it's a great way to get use out of so many palettes that are just sitting there collecting dust xx

I always looked at that palette but never made the purchase. It came out when contouring first came out and it all seemed challenging to me at the time. The glimmer palette hasn't been getting great reviews, so I can see why you wouldn't want to purchase it. At first I thought it would be an excellent compliment to this one, but I guess not. LOL
