Morphe 350 2 Second Nature Palette

Morphe, Morphe, Morphe... I can't help but love Morphe palettes. As soon as I saw this new palette was launching, I had to get my hands on it. The 3502 Second Nature palette is the sequel palette of their most popular palette the 350. The 35O was continuously sold out when it launched, and the warm shades really drew makeup enthusiasts in. I also own the 350, and the sequel palette peaked my interests because it had the warm shades, the fiery reds and more shimmer shades. The one downside to the original palette for me was not having enough shimmer shades amongst all the matte shades. This palette has a better balance.The Second Nature Palette is much more vibrant and rich, leaving the 350 to seem more subtle. The 3502 screams fall, and I love it.

Morphe seems to be listening to their fan base because this palette did come with a plastic overlay with the shade names listed. I would much rather the names be printed on the palette itself, even a sticker on the back but atleast they do have names this time. It makes it much easier to give tutorials and follow tutorials. They have also redesigned their logo to have a more sleek logo. The packaging itself is the same.

I've been doing some shopping, and these are the new items added to my collection. At my local Winner's I found the Kat Von D Shade and Light Contour Palette. It was on my wishlist for awhile, but I never picked it up because it was 60$ and I didn't know if I would like it. I don't do alot of contouring but I was intrigued by the powders. Kat Von D changed the packaging on these palettes and these cardboard palettes are popping up at outlet stores. I was really happy to find it! A full review will be coming. I also picked up a Seche Vite Top Coat at Winner's. I've heard good things about this fast drying top coat. I've been trying to keep my nails polished and didn't like the top coat that I was using. I'm not a patient person when I'm doing my nails, I hope this helps. At Shopper's I picked up a  Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Flawless Airbrushing Powder. I like setting my face and I was looking for a powder that didn't look too matte or be too drying. I decided to pick this up and give it a try.

For this weeks Weekly Get To Know Me, I decided to just write a post instead of doing a Q&A. The last two weeks we were on vacation and came home Sunday. We actually left our hometown on Saturday drove 5 hours, slept overnight at a motel and finished the drive the next day which was another 5-6 hours. The drive itself was good, and we arrived back home to really warm weather. It was back to work on Monday, and I've been struggling all week. I feel like I'm on the verge of being sick, and I'm just overtired and need to rest. I'm hoping to rest up this weekend and have a better week next week.

My vacation was really nice but I didn't get to do as much blogging or reading as I had intended. I was a little disappointed but I enjoyed time away. I decided to just spend the time with my son and husband. When Caleb napped, I napped too. Did I mention he still wakes up every single night and he's about to be 4 in December? Yes, he's always been a restless sleep.

Boxycharm October 2017 Unboxing

The BH Cosmetics Shaaanxo palette has been out for quite some time, and Shannon recently announced that she will re releasing a remix of this palette on Oct 27th. Since I had the original palette, I wanted to review the palette and show you the upcoming Remix version. This palette is a great neutral palette, and I've been using it alot lately. While I was on vacation, that middle row was a "go to" look for me. I love the yellow transition, the terracotta shade in the crease and the bronze shade all over the lid. The other shimmers are also pretty.

This palette is housed in sturdy cardboard and I don't have any issues with one side opening when using the opposite side. It has 9 eyeshadows and 9 lip colors on the opposite side. The lip colors weren't a favorite but they are nice to have in a pinch. The eyeshadows are definitely my favorite. In the new Remix version, these 9 eyeshadows will remain but she has added 9 new eyeshadows and didn't include any lip colors. Doesn't it look pretty?

I've had my eye on the Masquerade Palette for a while, and a recent sale on the Juvia's Place site encouraged me to finally pick it up. Juvia's Place states that this palette is inspired by "African festivals filled with enormous joy and spiritual activities. The bold colours represent the costumes used in festivals. The nude and browns represent the African soil and environments." This palette comes in mini size and full size. I decided on the mini palette because even those shadows are large, the full-size Masquerade palette is huge and not necessary for my personal use. It is also easier to travel with the smaller version. In addition to this palette, I own the Nubian palette which is their neutral palette.

The Masquerade Palette is a great palette if you like warm colours. The neutrals make this a very wearable palette and the more vibrant shades are fun to play around with. The mattes are very smooth, pigmented and blend well. It doesn't really come with a great mid-tone brown transition for my fair skin- I usually go in very lightly with Burkina. If I'm looking for a lighter colour, I can always grab from another palette. The shimmers are very metallic and I don't experience a lot of fall out. Casablanca is a gorgeous shade!

I recently picked up the Ecotools Blender Duo sponges, which come with a large base blender and a smaller detail blender. Both are wedged to help create straight lines, if you're baking or want to clean up your makeup looks. I love using a damp beauty sponge when applying my foundation and/or concealer and I was excited to try these out. I have never used an original beauty blender because they run around 28$ in Canada and I have a basset hound that loves to chew beauty sponges. I rather purchase more affordable sponges that won't hurt the budget if I loose one.

My first impressions using the sponge was that they expanded very nicely when dampened. They didn't feel too wet when I squeezed out the excess water and were nice and bouncy. The large base blender doesn't feel as dense as the smaller blender. Between the two, the large base blender is my favorite and great for foundation. The smaller sponge didn't work well for me when trying to blend out my concealer. The sponge is more dense and I didn't feel like it was blending very nicely, but absorbing alot of my product. I will use the smaller blender to for powder when needing to create straight lines. It will also work great if I'm applying a liquid highlighter.

I own quite a bit of affordable brushes and normally when I purchase a set I only find one or two brushes that I actually like. This 7 piece set from BH Cosmetics is one of my favorite eye brush sets. Recently, I picked up a second set because I love these brushes so much. I do not like scratchy eye brushes, and these are some of the softest brushes I own. This set comes with a large diffusing brush, small diffusing brush, tapered precision brush, eye shader brush, smudger brush, eye detailing brush, bent liner brush.

The blending brushes are my favorite and really make this set stand out. The large diffusing brush is very fluffy and works well with applying my transition shade and giving me a high transition area. If I don't use it to apply my transition (my Sigma E40 is still my #1) I will go back in with this brush to further blend.The tapered brush really gets into my crease. Yes, I think these brushes are great for a smokey eye but don't underestimate them when it comes to your daily routine. I find myself using these brushes all the time. I'll be honest, I have the BH Cosmetics Essential Eye brush set and I prefer this set. They're much more softer and well made. These brushes have been washed over and over and they have not shed, frayed or become misshapen.  I recommend this set of brushes because I use each and every brush.

If you like a fine point brow pencil to really define and create natural strokes, I recommend both the Maybelline Brow Precise and the Mac Brow Pencil. Both are very similar and have been my "go to" brow pencils lately. I have very sparse brows and I really like a precise pencil to fill them in and shape my brows. I like a natural looking, feathery brow. Both formulas are not too creamy, but still smooth. They're also very long lasting throughout the day. 

The Maybelline Brow Precise Pencil is an affordable option that comes in 4 colors. It is a mechanical pencil that does not need to be sharpened. The tip is ultra fine and has a spoolie on the opposite end. The spoolie is small and works very well. The Mac Pencil is very much the same however, it does not have a spoolie which is disappointing. If you're traveling, you'll need to remember to bring one. Mac has 10 colors to choose from and it does have more product. The Maybelline has 0.002 oz while the Mac pencil has 0.003 oz.

Overall, I like both pencils equally. They make filling in my brows easy. If you have issues finding a color match, you may have better luck with Mac's color selection. Again, I would love if the Mac pencil had a spoolie but it would not stop me from repurchasing. I have noticed that the Maybelline pencil has broken off a few times when I was using it. I haven't had that issue with the Mac pencil. Again, I don't think you can go wrong with either pencil. I really do enjoy using them both.

The Covergirl Vitalist Elixir is a fairly new drugstore foundation that has been buzzing around the beauty scene. I was curious about the foundation and picked it up while it was on sale at Pharmaprix (Shoppers Drug Mart.) This foundation comes in 14 shades and claims to be hydrating, vitamin infused, antioxidant and has SPF 20. Hydrating and glowy are two factors that I look for in a foundation for my dry skin. This oil-free foundation offers a medium to full coverage application.

The packaging is very nice for drugstore, and the pump is an added bonus. Seriously, a foundation should not come without a pump... I had heard that this foundation dries a little darker, and I picked up the lightest shade that my drugstore had. It's very close to my skin tone but it still dries a little too dark. I prefer to add a white foundation mixer. I use a damp sponge, and it blends in very easily. I'm very sensitive to smells but this lightly scented foundation does not bother me at all. I actually like the smell. It does feel very lightweight, it is fairly long lasting and gives me a dewy look. As with most dewy foundations, it doesn't dry down completely and leaves a light tacky feel. I set my face with a powder to help blend my bronzer, blush and highlighter. I also don't like touching my face throughout the day and it feel tacky.

Bronzed Bell and Kitten Karma

I'm sure you've heard of these Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow shadows. When they released, I saw review after review of them. I purchased Bronze Bell during the summer and I recently received Kitten Karma for review. Both of these shades are stunning. The sparkle is gorgeous and leaves an intense shimmer on your eyes. There are 11 shades listed on the Stila website. These glitters are gel-cream consistency and long wearing. You do have minimal fall out- to counteract this I like to use a glitter glue when I apply them.

In general, I don't wear a lot of cream shadows. I have small lid space and slightly hooded eyes. I find working with creams to be difficult. Creams tend to look messy and uneven on my eyes. I was afraid I would have a similar experience with these, and I did when I went in with the doe foot applicator. What really worked for me was wearing them over a shadow. This sets down a base color and I use a small detail brush to apply these over. A small amount of product is easier to work with, and dries much faster. This is my preferred method.

Stila Skin Tone Correcting and Brightening Serum

This primer has been around for awhile and I was excited at the chance to try it. The triple swirled serum primes, brightens and nourishes the skin. My dry skin does well with the hydration which is my main concern at this time, especially moving into the colder months. If you look at the bottle you see the three color correcting pigments that are designed to even out skin your complexion. When you pump out the serum, all three color correcting pigments are distributed. The green neutralizes redress and conceals blemishes. The purple counteracts sallowness and the peach illuminates and helps diminish the appearance of sun spots. I don't have a lot of redness of my skin, but I've seen Youtubers use this primer and it really does counteract the redness. For my skin, I do see a difference in my sun spots and skin tone.

This product also claims to hydrate, control oil, and diminish the appearance of pores and fine lines. This is the only primer that I've seen with these three color correcting properties. It is not a silicone primer, and absorbs into my skin very quickly. It doesn't feel heavy or thick. If you like a sticky primer, this doesn't dry down tacky. I don't typically have issues with my foundation breaking up, so it's not an issue for me.

Tarte Make Believe In Yourself Palette

I picked up the Tarte Make Believe In Yourself Palette on sale at Sephora. I had my eye on the palette since it released, and decided it was time to pick it up. The tones in this palette really drew me in. It has some neutral shades, and some fun pops of colour. I believe this was released as a part of their unicorn collection. The packaging is really cute, Tarte has some of my favorite packaging. The round disk makes it easy to hold and I don't have any issues storing them.

What current foundation are you using?

I've been testing out to Cover Girl Vitalist Elixir. I like the coverage but the lightest shade is a little too dark for me. I have to mix in Manic Panic Dreamtone.

Do you change your mascara every 3 months?

Yes, and No. If I've used the mascara alot, I will throw it away after 3 months. If I know I haven't used it that much, I try to hold on to it a little longer. I prefer travel tubes of mascara because I feel like I get the same amount of use out of them. I also like the smaller wands.

What is my favorite blush to use?

I've been loving my Tarte Blush Bazaar palette. The shades are really nice, and I have every shade I would need within the palette. I love palettes, over single items. There's just something about picking up a palette and having so many shades available.

Essence, Mac Cosmetics, Urban Decay

I'm not one of those people who use concealer to prime my eyes for eye shadow. I don't have oily lids but I do prefer an eye primer. I feel like my eye shadow looks better throughout the day when I wear an actual primer. These three eye shadow primers are recommended by me. I like to have a primer that will conceal the veins on my lids. I put the primer from lid to brow bone and then set with a powder. Setting the primer allows me to blend my shadow more easily.

The most affordable primer that I do use is the Essence I Heart Colour Primer. It has a nice consistency, a doe foot applicator to apply and it lasts throughout the day. The lighter color really makes my eye shadow more vibrant. If you're looking for an affordable primer, I would give this one a try. I did not like the ELF primer. This one is alot better in terms of staying power.

One of my favorite primers is my Mac Paint Pot in Painterly. A pot lasts me about a year, and it has not dried out on me. It's easy to apply with my finger or a synthetic brush. Painterly matches my skin tone very well. If you have a more yellow kin tone, Soft Ochre might work better for you.

Recently I picked up Urban Decay's Eden Primer and was happy with the results. It's a little too yellow for me, but once I set it with a white powder it looks okay. I've also used the Anti Ageing Primer which is more clear. I do prefer a doe foot applicator over using my fingers. It's easier to distribute where you want to. This product will also last me a long time. I am interested in trying the different color versions that are available. Different base colors will help certain eye shadow colors pop more.

Korres Greek Yoghurt Under Eye Priming Moisturizer

I had never tried an under eye priming moisturizer before, and I had no idea what I was missing until I tried this product. This product is cooling to the under eye area, it helps to treat puffiness and locks in your makeup. A probiotic-rich cream that has Greek Yoghurt, myrtle and rhodiola rosea extracts. A little amount really does goes a long way. It also has a cooling ceramic tip to gently apply the product.  This lightweight product is good for all skin types, and helps to diminish the look of my fine lines underneath my eyes.

In short, my concealer has never looked so smooth. I feel like this product makes it easier to blend in my concealer and keep it there all day. If I forget to apply this, I can tell throughout the day that I don't have it on. My concealer doesn't look as smooth and flawless as it does when I prime my eye with it. I usually apply this after I apply my face primer. I have used my fingers to apply the product and the ceramic tip. I'm okay using both methods. I have sensitive skin and this doesn't bother my skin at all. It does say to avoid the upper eye lid area, so be careful. This will remain in my everyday makeup routine because I really can see a difference.

Morphe Brushes 12S Palette Review and Swatches

Morphe has had their fair share of controversy in the beauty community but I can honestly tell you that I love their shadows, particularly their shimmer shadows. If I want a metallic shadow, I'm never disappointed with Morphe. I own many of their palettes and I haven't been let down with any. The 12S (Soul of Summer) palette is a much smaller warm toned palette with only 12 shades. It's a great palette to pair with a matte palette. Each of these shades are so pretty, you can use one all over the lid and put a matte brown in your crease and call it a day. It has a nice variety of neutrals and a few more that can spice up your look.

Morphe shimmer shades are not as smooth as other brands but I don't mind them being a little more chunky because they really stand out on the eyes. They really don't have to be built up on the eye because they're so intense to start off with. Some other metallic shades have to be applied with your finger or certain brushes because they are hard to pick up. I've never had any problems picking up Morphe shadows with a brush. They are so easy to apply and stay on my eyes all day. I'm really drawn to square eye shadow pans, I'm not sure why but I really like the look of a square pan.

If you've been curious about Morphe shimmer shadows, but don't want to try a 35 pan palette, pick this one up. It's small but all 12 shades are beautiful. I'm so excited to try and pick up the new 350 2 (Second Nature) palette that is launching on the 12th.

Stila Heaven's Hue Highlighters Trio (Limited Edition)

The Stila Star Light, Star Bright Trio released last year around the holiday's. I picked mine up at a local Winner's and thought it would still be great to review because they're still sold as individuals. These highlighters are very unique and interesting to try. When you swatch the product, it has a bouncy consistency. It reminded me of the Colourpop's Super Shock Shadows. It's very much a cream to powder product. They are gorgeous on the skin, and I don't think my swatches do them justice.


There are three colors available, Transcendence, Kitten, and Bronze. Both Transcendence and Kitten look great on my fair skin. Bronze is too dark, and I don't like a shimmery bronzer. Transcendence is a light pink lavender cool toned highlighter. Kitten is a medium coppery champagne shade, and bronze is a golden copper.

When you use these- a fluffy brush will struggle to pick up the product. I like to use my finger or a more dense brush. If you have the Real Techniques setting brush, it works well to pick up this higlighter. I also like to apply kitten as my overall highlighter and Transcendence on the highest part of my cheekbone. Once you apply these highlighters, they truly melt into your skin. They're beautiful and last all day.

How Long Does It Take Me To Get Ready In The Morning?

My son is an early riser, and we get up at 5:30. My husband leaves for work just before we get up. The kitchen is next to my bedroom and I get ready while my son is having his breakfast and watching shows on his tablet. We have about an hour and a half before we have to be out the door. I usually take about 25 minutes to do my makeup. I'm constantly stopping and checking on Caleb and talking to him throughout the process.

Where Am I Going For Vacation?

My husband and I are both from a small town in Gaspe, Quebec. Every fall we go back to our hometown. The men are in the woods for a week moose hunting, and I get to relax and do nothing. I'll be staying with my mother in law, and seeing my family as well. I plan to do alot of blogging. I'm really excited. It's about 11 hours from where we currently live in Montreal.

What Is The Least Favorite Thing About Myself?

I'm an introvert, and I'm fine being by myself. I'm not a social butterfly and I prefer to be on my own, if I'm not with my husband or family. I don't get bored being alone. I'm not good at keeping in contact with friends. Having a child and being in social circles has been a challenge for me. People love to talk to you when you have a young child and that took some getting use to. My husband is my best friend, we've been together for 15 years. It also helps that our families knew each other long before we were together. I never had to learn his family, I knew alot of them growing up. 

Who Is One Celebrity That I Admire?

Ashley Callingbull. She's an Enoch Cree First Nations from Alberta, Canada. She won the Mrs. Universe pageant in 2015 and immediately used the platform to speak out about First Nations issues, including missing and murdered aboriginal women in Canada. She's a motivational speaker and actress. She tears down the stereotype of the "pageant/beauty" queen. If you didn't know, I'm Native American myself and it's a huge part of who I am and how I want my son to be raised.

Did I Go To University?

Yes, I did. My Bachelor is a Joint Specialization of English and History with a Certificate for Native Studies.

When I remove the makeup, I don't like to use wipes or cotton pads. I have come to love these polyester cloths because they remove all my makeup and I can reuse them. Often, I find those cotton pads to be too small or they leave behind lint. Normal face cloths don't remove my makeup and it's really frustrating. These are the cloths that I use. I'm sure you've heard of the Makeup Remover cloth- well this is pretty much the same. If I wanted to use water only, the makeup would come off but it does take a bit more time. I prefer to use a makeup remover all over my face and use a cloth to wipe it away. It takes my makeup off really quickly, and these cloths are so soft. I can use it around my eyes and it doesn't feel rough.

Why do I love these so much? I can reuse them. If you run out of cotton pads or makeup wipes- you're kind of stuck. I have really sensitive eyes and these work great. I have about 10 of these cloths and I'm never without one. I throw them in the wash and I can use them over and over again. I've seen these packs of 4 for about 10$ at Winners. On well.ca you can buy one of these for 5.99$. If you look around, I'm sure you'll find a great deal. My cloths do get stained with eyeliner and mascara but it's not a big deal. I'm sure I can play around with detergents but I don't. These are set aside exclusively for my face and I don't mind them being stained.

These are the claims of the product, and I do agree with all of them. I highly recommend these!

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Vol 2

The Tarte Rainforest of the Sea eyeshadow palettes have been on my radar for a while, but I never picked them up for some reason. Truthfully, I can't buy all the palettes on my wishlist. It would be nice, but not budget friendly. This palette was included in a Boxy Charm and I was so excited to get it. This retails for 47$ in Canada, and there are three volumes released at this point. The first palette is more neutral, and the third is more rosy toned. The Volume 2 palette is cooler-toned.

Boxy Charm September 2017 Standout Products

I'm a fairly new Boxy Charm subscriber and I've been really impressed with the items that I have received each month. I decided to post about the standout products that I receive in the box rather than reviewing the entire box. This gives me some time to actually try the products, rather than just doing an unboxing post. 

Kiss Products

When I received these products for review, I was happy to get to try more Kiss lashes. Their lashes are some of my favorite to wear because they are so comfortable and pretty on the eyes. I received the Little Black Dress Lashes and the Blooming Lashes in Tulip and both accentuated my eyes and the lashes looked natural. Yes, you can tell they're false lashes but they really help complete a makeup look. I can also recommend the Kiss Ever EZ Strip Lash Adhesive . It's definitely a favorite glue to use when applying lashes. I like brush tip adhesives to apply my lashes, it's much easier than tube glue.

Kiss Magical Ink Liner

My biggest surprise when trying these products out wat the Kiss Magical Ink Liner. I have it in the color brown, and it's darker than some of my black eyeliners. The tip is so fine and easy to use that I find myself choosing this liner over and over again. I can apply it quickly, and it comes out so nice. It lasts all day on my lids, and removes very easily when I'm ready. I would love to try this in black. If you see this liner in store, pick it up! It's a new favorite of mine.

Maybelline Fit Me, Physicians Formula Liner, and Annabelle Eye Primer

Testing out makeup products will without a doubt bring about disappointing products. It happens, and what doesn't work for me may work for you. I purchased the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Stick and the Fit My Hydrate and Smooth liquid foundation. The Hydrate and Smooth worked well but the foundation stick was a disappointment. It doesn't feel that creamy when I apply it to my face, it has light coverage and doesn't stay on my face, within a few hours- it's gone. I liked the concept of a stick foundation but this one wasn't for me. I would like to try a stick foundation from another brand and see if I like it.
