Kat Von D Shade and Light Contour Palette Review (Fair Skin)
Thursday, November 2, 2017
The Kat Von D Shade and Light Contour palette has been on my wishlist for a long time. I held off on the palette because I don't normally contour and didn't think I would use this palette enough. I also worried that it would be too pigmented and not for me. The Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye palette is very pigmented and I do have to be careful when using those shadows. I was worried that I would use this palette and it would look like a muddy mess on my face. I found this palette on sale, and I thought it would be great to try. I'm so happy that I picked it up because I love it!
The top row has setting powders that I use for my under eyes. I use the first shade and/or the first two shades mixed together to set my under eyes. These powders are so pigmented that I feel like it helps cover my dark under eye area. It brightens the natural shadow that I do have. I also grab for this palette when I'm looking to set my eye shadow primer. The bottom row has the three bronzer/contour shades, and while I don't contour day to day I do like to add some warmth back into my face once I've put on my foundation. The middle shade works great. The first shade is a little too cool toned for me, but I could use it to contour when I need. The last shade is dark for me but I've used it as eye shadow and put it in my crease.
Overall, this palette was a pleasant surprise. I use it every day and see myself repurchasing or buying the single pans that Kat Von D sells. I like that the first shade brightens, but doesn't look too stark white on my skin. It's a very natural creamy off white. Since I am so fair skinned, and I have black hair I have to be careful with my bronzing and face powders. This palette really surpassed my expectations and I'm surprised by how much I like it. If you've been hesitant to pick up this palette, I do highly recommend it. While I do really like the middle bronzer shade, my favorite part of this palette is the highlight face powders.
Do you have this palette? What do you think about it? I don't own alot of contour palettes because I don't want to buy a palette that will not get much use. I do feel like this palette is versatile enough that I will get alot of use out of all the shades.

I have been so excited for this review! I’m obsessed with Kat Von D products at the minute, and I’ve seen the palette just about everywhere.. I was a little concerned about the darkest contour shade, because I’m very pale too, but I love the idea of using it as an eyeshadow instead!

I haven't tried any Cat Von D products but they look amazing and the reviews are really good! I think this looks fab, great review! I don't have any contour palettes but I use the NARS bronzer for a bit of contour. Maybe I need a palette now... xx

/this sounds fab, maybe when my NYX one hits pan I'll give this a try!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a really great palette especially when you managed to pick it up in the sale! I really struggle to find good setting powders so the fact it has those and contour shades in one palette is so good! I've never tried anything from Kat Von D yet.

I also wasn't sure I would use a big palette like this, but I love mine too! I will have to use the top row more, I've mostly been using the contour and the bronzers.

I've never used a contour kit before (!) so I probably wouldn't use this one. But I loved your detailed review so I can recommend it to friends that do, especially with the tip about using the powders as eyeshadow 😘

Even I don't contour much I tried the Maybelline contour palette and I liked the look. I have seen this palette everywhere and always ignored. But in your picture I actually see the beauty and potential of this palette (after I tried contouring recently ) this looks promising.:-)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds lovely! Have a great weekend.
