Let's chat about Colourpop Cosmetics, shall we? I purchase a lot of makeup on my own, and I wanted to start spotlighting brands and talk about the brand as a whole and how it works for me as a Canadian consumer. I really do love Colourpop, but as a Canadian I don't always gravitate towards their new releases. I really need to fall in love with a product, in order to make the purchase.
Colourpop releases product after product, and I can't keep up with them as a brand. I start to lose interest. If I wanted to pick up one small item, I have to tack on the shipping fee and then it's not so affordable for me. First, their shipping is 9.99$ US which is about 13.99$ Canadian at the current exchange rate. I find this to be one of the higher shipping rates. Any higher, and I won't purchase at all. A basic palette will run me 16$ US, plus the shipping which in total will be around 34$ Canadian. I also might run into custom fees, adding to the price. While I do pick up palettes, a smaller item doesn't interest me because of the shipping. A 5$ item, suddenly costs me much more. Shipping also takes around 2 weeks to get to me, which is a longer wait time.
My favorite items from Colourpop are the pressed eyeshadows. The formula is really great, and their palettes are consistent. They do have alot of kickup in the pan, if that's something that bothers you. The shimmer shades are stunning, and I like to use a dense brush to pick them up. They last all day on my eyes and don't fade too much throughout the day. As you can see, I have quite a few Colourpop palettes. I find Colourpop palettes to be quite unique, and the shade selection is what draws me in.
I also tried the Colourpop concealer, and it oxidized so quickly on my skin. In a few seconds, it was darker. While I do like the concealer, I've almost used it up, I would like to try a lighter colour at some point. Again, I hold off waiting to make a strategic affordable purchase. Due to the shipping, it makes no sense to just pick up the concealer. I really wish Colourpop offered shipping discounts to international customers when they offer free shipping to US customers. That would be great.
Colourpop does have great sales on their products, I recommend waiting for a sale when picking up items. I would love to see some couponcodes, I don't recall seeing that much from them. As a brand, I do love their stuff but I also hesitate to purchase from them.
What is your experience with the brand?
I want them all hehe:D <3 I am waiting when Colorpop will be available in Europe: D
ReplyDeleteI would love if they released a Canadian online store. That would be amazing.
ReplyDeleteI have one palette, which I received as a gift but I haven't ordered from them because the customs puts me off! xx

I've been wanting to try a palette from ColourPop for so long, but I can't bring myself to buy from them as the customs are so expensive. I really hope they start getting stocked in more places xx

Yet another brand I had no idea existed. I am just trying out Kiko Milano.
ReplyDeleteTo say that I'm addicted to colour pop is a complete UNDERSTATEMENT. I just can't get enough of them, ever since they started launching powder products - I became hooked! Their eye shadow formula is pure magic, I own so many of their single shadows and 9 of their eye shadow palettes so far ( plus a million other products haha). I can't get over this brand and I'm way over due for another order. x

I totally agree with you that shipping and then customs make Colourpop an expensive brand for those who don't live in US. So many of my friends have not tried anything for the same reason. Since I love Colourpop products I only buy them when I visit US. The quality and price is amazing there. :-)
