Maybelline Snapscara is a fairly new mascara at the drugstore. It claims to be "on and off in a snap." The formula for the Snapscara is wax free and idea for sensitive eyes. The formula allows you to easily remove the mascara with a cotton pad and warm water only and no rubbing on the eyes. Sounds great, right? Well as for removing the mascara I did find it very easy to remove and didn't have residue left over in the morning. Some mascaras are so hard to remove that you feel like you're damaging your lashes in the process.
I tried both the black and cherry black versions and both were dark and voluminous on my lashes. I black cherry wasn't a huge difference on the eyes, it still looked dark. It does come in blue and purple as well. Colourful mascaras are a trend right now and I'm expecting more to release this year. I didn't feel like this mascara gave me a lot of length though. I need both volume and length because my lashes are sad. I can wear it on its own but it would be much better if it lengthened and volumized. I do really like this mascara when wearing false lashes because it's easier on my lashes when it comes time to remove. I did not experience any clumping, smudging or flaking which is great. Below are swatches of the different colours.
Overall Verdict: I like this mascara, but I don't love it. I will definitely grab for it when wearing false lashes. I love that it's easy to remove. The brush is nice to apply the product, even on my lower lashes. I hate when a brush is so big that I need to pull in another mascara for my lower lashes. It is a drier formula. As for the Black cherry, shade it doesn't seem all that different from black when wearing it on the eyes, but there is a subtle difference.

I haven't seen a cherry mascara before, that's really cool!

Sounds like it might be ok for an everyday mascara but not for nights out etc xx
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the black cherry colour, a shame there wasn't that much difference in reality. x

I tried even bigger brushes and I find that they work best for me, they give amazing volume. I haven't tried either of these.

The black cherry seemed great, but definitely a disappointment. Thanks for being so honest!

I might try one of the colored versions, I have been meaning to look into that and will for obvious reasons go the drugstore route. No need to spend a lot on something you just want for fun. Personally drier formulas work better with my lashes, so it might be a good one. Although I like length for my lashes too.
ReplyDeleteI've not heard of this mascara before, but gutted to hear you don't love it. Maybelline often nail mascaras, but at least this one works with falsies xx

It takes alot for me to love a mascara, I need both volume and length. I'm asking for alot in a mascara. lol I will wear this mascara, it just isn't a favorite.
DeleteYikes. I don't like mascaras that aren't volumizing. Trust me, I am picky too!

I've not seen the black cherry shade anywhere! I hope it comes to the UK xx

This is the first time I heard of this new mascara. The black cherry shade looks different in the swatch, but as you mentioned it looks similar on the eyes. My favorite is still the L'Oreal lash paradise but will definitely check this out. :-)
