Stacking My Shelves is a meme hosted by Reading Reality. It's all about sharing the new books that have been added to your shelves either physical books, ebooks, borrowed books and/or audiobooks.
It's been years now that I no longer read physical books, I prefer my ereaders. I own both Kobo and Kindle and I plan to break down what I'm adding to each ereader. I'm currently testing out a two-month free trial for a Kindle Unlimited Subscription and will note which books I'm adding to my Kindle. Kindle has some exclusive books which is why I own both ereaders.
Let's get into the new books I've added to my ereaders.
Kobo Books
Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler (Amazon)
"When global climate change and economic crises lead to social chaos in the early 2020's, California becomes full of dangers, from pervasive water shortage to masses of vagabonds who will do anything to live to see another day."This book sounded interesting to me, there are two books in the series and when this came on sale I added it to my Kobo. The only book I've read by Butler was Kindred and it was amazing.
Once Upon A Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber (Amazon)
"How Far would you go for happily ever after? For as long as she can remember, Evangeline Fox has believed in true love and happy endings...until she learns that the love of her life will marry another."I've been hearing a lot about this book recently; it's the first book of a series and is categorized as young adult fantasy. This author also wrote the Caraval series, which I haven't read but I have seen people recommend those books as well.
The Road Trip by Beth O'Leary (Amazon)
"Two Exes reach a new level of awkward when forced to take a road trip together in this endearing and humorous novel by the author of the international bestseller The Flatshare."
Beth O'Leary is one of those authors I really want to try. I've seen her books talked about quite a bit and I can't wait to try one. I do believe I have The Flatshare as well in my collection.
These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan (Amazon)
"From New York Times best-selling author Lex Ryan, Cruel Prince meets A Court of Thorns and Roses in this sexy, action-packed fantasy about a girl who is caught between two treacherous faerie courts and their dangerously seductive princes."This is another one that I bought on sale, and it seems like something I would like to pick up in the fall/winter. I like to try books outside of my comfort zone in those seasons. I've seen a lot of five-star ratings on Goodreads and thought I could give it a try.
Kindle Unlimited Books (Free Trial)
Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover (Amazon)
"A troubled young mother yearns for a shot at redemption in this heartbreaking yet hopeful story from #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover. After serving five years in prison for a tragic mistake, Kenna Rowan returns to the town where it all went wrong, hoping to reunite with her four-year-old daughter."Colleen Hoover is one of those authors that I want to read all of her books. This was exclusive to Kindle, and I waited until I purchased a Kindle to read this one. While Colleen Hoover's books are not all hits for me, I'm really excited about this one. The book description really sounds like I wouldn't want to put it down.
Snake Falls to Earth by Darcie Little Badger (Amazon)
"Nina is a Lipan girl in our world. She's always felt there was something more out there. She still believes in the old stories. Oli is a cottonmouth kid, from the land of the spirits and monsters."
Darcie Little Badger is an Indigenous author who wrote Elatsoe which I LOVED! I can't wait to read this one. It's been on my wishlist since it was released, and I was so happy to see it on Kindle Unlimited.
Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score (Amazon)
"Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. Unless you count his basset hound, Waylon. Knox doesn't tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded runaway bride."I don't know too much about this book, but I've been seeing it on a lot of reading vlog and decided to add this to my Kindle as well. I also own a basset hound but mine is named Winston, so I'm curious about this book.
Too Late by Colleen Hoover (Amazon)
"Sloan will go through hell and back for those she loves. And she does, every single day. After finding herself stuck in a relationship with the dangerous and morally corrupt Asa Jackson, Sloan will do whatever it takes to get by until She's able to find a way out."
Another Colleen Hoover, another one I couldn't get on my Kobo as a Kindle exclusive. I haven't seen too many people talk about this one, I feel like this is a lesser-known book of hers. I have seen some people rave about this one. I believe this one is a thriller and not a romance.

A coworker and I were just talking about how we've transitioned to mostly reading e-books. And yet I still find myself acquiring physical books. I do enjoy reading them too, but when I do, I tend to appreciate e-books more.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to read The Road Trip. It sounds like a good one. One of these days I'll get around to trying Colleen Hoover. I hope you enjoy all your new books!
Colleen Hoover can be hit or miss because her topics can be heavy but I do enjoy some of her reads. I love that ebooks don't take up any space and I don't have to declutter anymore. Happy Reading!
DeleteI want to read Beth O'Leary. I haven't read any Colleen Hoover because they seem a bit much for me, however this one looks slightly more my thing.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

I finished Reminders of Him and I think this was my ultimate favorite Colleen Hoover book. Her topics can be heavy and I don't like to read them back to back. Happy reading!
DeleteI added Elatsoe to my TBR - sounds like something I'd enjoy - I loved Firekeepers Daughter & though this one has a magical element, it seems generally similar. I'd recommend Firekeepers if you haven't read it yet. Happy Reading

Fire Keeper's Daughter is a favorite of mine. She has a new book being released May 2023 called Warrior Girl Unearthed. Happy reading!
DeleteThe Road Trip was a fun read and I hope to get The Flatshare sometime. I also read a lot of ebooks but visit the library every now and then to check out new books.
ReplyDeleteI think I have the Flatshare as well. I'll have to get around to trying her books soon. Thanks for visiting! Happy reading.
DeleteLooks like a wonderful variety of books. Enjoy your week! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting!
DeleteI'm 100% an e-reader these days. I, too, have both a Kindle and Kobo. I, also, have a Nook. I use them all :) Your books look really good. I hope you enjoy them and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear, I'm not alone with my various ereaders.
